Cooking…

Maybe its that summer is coming to a close, but I’ve been all about BBQ, and pulled pork in particular. I prefer North Carolina style BBQ, which uses a vinegar based BBQ sauce. (P.S. thanks Nikki for introducing me to this!) I’ve been loving the pulled pork recipe from this Sous Vide cookbook- it is seriously AMAZING. Best NC pulled pork out of North Carolina, if I do say so myself, and it includes a really simple vinegar based sauce you can make at home. Also, if you don’t have a Sous Vide and you’re into cooking, I highly recommend getting one! It’s a fantastic kitchen gadget. This is the one we use. (And maybe I will do a whole Sous Vide post someday!)

Trying…

…to get those pumpkins in my garden to grow. Yes, I planted pumpkins. And yes, I know that our backyard city garden is all of 400 square feet…..and yes, the pumpkin plant has seriously taken over our yard. (I have some instastories of this highlighted on my profile!) The plant is huge and has flowers, but no fruit yet! It’s the end of August, so I have started fertilizing to try to get some pumpkins to actually grow. Anyone have any tips? I will be very disappointed if my yard turns into a pumpkin patch without any actual pumpkins.

Listening…

…to the How I Built This Podcast. I binge listened to a bunch of them last week, including interviews with the founders of Rx Bars, Starbucks, Dry Bar, and Au Bon Pain/Panera. Highly recommend!

Reading…

…literally 10 books at a time these days! So far, I have really loved The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand. (Such a good summer beach read!)

For nonfiction, I’ve been reading The First 40 Days, which has been really influential in how I have approached my postpartum recovery and healing. (Oh, and another reason to drink bone broth doesn’t hurt!)

Watching…

My husband and I have started rewatching the whole Downton Abbey series. We first watched it together when we were in our first year of dating, I forgot how good this series is. Anna! And Bates! And why is Mary such a jerk?

Buying…

…these ready-to-drink iced Picnik butter coffees. They’re sooo good!

Obsessing…

…over Meghan Markle’s style. I absolutely love all of her classic and structured fashion choices. And her shoes are beautiful…but how does she (and all the other royals) walk in them without some serious blisters? Tell me your secrets.
