I wanted to take a minute and express how deeply saddened by the events that transpired in Paris last week. My heart goes out to all of France, and the rest of the world who reads this with heavy hearts, as we are all forever capitated by the City of Lights.
Time seems to be flying by, per usual, but this fall went so fast. Already, pumpkins and squash are starting to phase out, and lots of winter leafy greens are starting to wiggle their way into farmers markets and produce sections. In D.C. and Northern Virginia, the weather has been surprisingly warm, and about 2 weeks ago, temperatures soared into the 80s. (Hoooow?!) This warm weather has lulled me into a sense of calmness right before the holiday season…..and Thanksgiving is less than a week away. What! What. How did that happen?! I don’t even know where to start with this one because I feel like I’m not ready. Its too soon Thanksgiving! Can you come back later?
If you’ve noticed, I’ve been posting a lot of recipes the past couple weeks that will work fabulously on your Thanksgiving table:
There are also some other recipes coming up within the next week that are highly anticipated (Hint: apple cider and vodka and pumpkin spice), and I will also be sending out some reminders of recipes from last year. Last year, I made my family a Paleo Thanksgiving, and they didn’t even notice. It can be done!
I have paired up with Rocksbox to give all my readers a free month of jewelry shipped right to their door. I recently was sent a pair of Kendra Scott earrings…and they may never be sent back ;) Seriously, this is like Stitchfix (Don’t even get me started on that obsession) but better because Rocksbox allows for unlimited swaps. Use code southofvanillaxoxo for your free month here.
Being back in D.C. and exploring our new home of Northern Virginia has been fabulous. Since our hiatus in New Mexico, I really appreciate the city so much more, and have been taking advantage of all this area has to offer:
And before I leave you, I have some last exciting news to share….
….CK and I are engaged!!
I know, I know, I should have probably led with that, but I wanted to save the best for last! We are beyond thrilled, and so excited. I was completely surprised, downright shocked, and SO impressed that he was able to pull off such a big surprise without me having any idea. Even more impressive was that my whole family knew, and some of my friends, including Dani from Care to Pair, got to give their opinions on the ring. How they kept this a secret, I have no idea, but I am still in shock and disbelief! We’re getting married!!!
Soooo, I may be posting more wedding planning stuff here or on Instagram, and I am already trying to figure out a way to have paleo or as paleo-as-possible catering. Does anyone have any tips? Anyone? Totally open. All ears. Especially because we have decided that we don’t want an engagement longer than a year, so the pressure is on. Give me all your wedding advice, friends.
Have a great Sunday and an even better week ahead!
